Harry Potter - Generation Next Year I (NG-I) "Mum! Mum!" the little six-year-old said, tugging at his mother's sleeve trying to draw her attention. His mother was taking him to visit his cousins in Leeds, and they were now both at the railway station. The boy's mother had found an old friend and was busy talking. "Muuuuum!" the boy said again, tugging harder. "What is it Timmy? Do you have to go?" his mother said at last, looking down at him. The boy shook his head. "What is it then?" asked Timmy's mother. Timmy pointed towards a platform and spoke very rapidly as he was wont to do when excited, "Those people ran into a wall... there was a boy there with white hair... he looked at me and then.. then.. they all walked into the wall and.. vaaanished." He whispered the last word. The boy's mother looked around and saw nothing too unusual except for the large number of oddly dressed people clustering on Platform Nine. Since they were all together, she assumed that they were all going to the same fancy shindig. "I'm sure they just went around the thing Timmy," she said to the boy, and thought nothing of it. The boy stayed at his mother's side for a while, as she completely forgot about him again. He began to watch the odd gathering of people out of the corner of his eye, being afraid to look at them straight on. Again, he noticed the same thing. This time it was a bunch of red headed children of different ages who walked into a pillar as if it wasn't there. They should have bumped into the brick wall and gotten some really nasty bruises at least. But no, they just simply disappeared. Timmy didn't even realize when he had started to walk in the direction of the no-bump-wall-thingy as he began to call whatever it was that no one seemed to be bumping into. He reached it, stretched out his hand fearfully, tripped over his own feet, and fell into the wall. He closed his eyes shut and was bracing himself for the impact, but it never came. When he opened his eyes again, there was no brick wall in front of him, and he was in another part of the station that wasn't there before. Timmy got up, looked around for his mother, but couldn't see her anywhere. And then, suddenly, he realized how afraid he was. His lower lip turned outward and he began to whimper, with tears rolling down his face. He noticed the first family he had seen to walk through the wall and went up to them. They were all very well dressed and looked very rich. Hesitantly, he went up to a man who was dressed in very fancy clothes and tugged at his sleeve. The man had white hair and was wearing a top-hat. He looked down at Timmy with angry gray eyes and pulled his hand away with a jerk and began to dust it off. Timmy looked up at the unfriendly man and his tears welled up even more. "Get back to your Muggle Mudpies child!" the man hissed at him, and turned away. Timmy stood where he was and sobbed, as the nasty man and his family moved away. Suddenly, someone caught him by the hand and pulled him away. "You don't belong here," said the boy who was dragging him back towards the barrier he had come through. "Come on! before my dad sees us!" The boy also had white hair, and Timmy found himself running straight into the barrier with him and popping out the other side. He spotted his mother immediately and broke free from the boy's grip and ran towards her, making up his mind that he wouldn't ever leave her side again no matter what he saw. Still sobbing, he gripped his mother's hand and looked back at the boy who had helped him, but the boy had vanished. Timmy realized that he hadn't even seen the boy's face.

Lena woke early the morning they were supposed to depart for the train station, but apparently not early enough because she noticed her bedroom door was slightly open and figured one of her parents had come in to check on her. Little did she know that her brother had woken and checked on her first. She made her way down to the living room where she found her mother and her own luggage, a very flowery trunk with a light blue background and a dark blue almost black trunk with Quidditch stuff all over it. "No breakfast mom?" she asked as her father and brother came down the stairs.
"I've packed something for both of you to eat on the way. It's going to be dark by the time you reach Hogwarts you know. And you'll both be getting some wizard money each to spend on the way, just in case" her mother answered and smiled as she shooed the kids upstairs to get dressed so they could leave.
The train station was very busy and filled with all sorts of people, most of whom were lined up at platform 9. As the Jensons made there way through the barrier of 9 3/4, Lena gasped at the extravagance of the Hogwarts Express; she had never seen such a sight. Mr. and Mrs. Jenson gathered their kids and said there goodbyes as each of them were looking at all the other kids.
"Be good both of you, and be nice to each other. Remember, it doesn't matter what house you get into; we want you to enjoy your first year there and learn loads of spells," said their father and smiled at them.
Liam shot a quick glance at Lena and smirked. "Yes father, of course we will be good, and ill keep a good eye on Lena. She might get scared."
Lena glared at her brother and punched him in the arm. "I don't need you to keep an eye on me, i can take care of myself!" she said as her attention turned to a gathering of girls who seamed to know each other.
"Just behave!" said their mother with a sigh and hugged them again before they made there way to the train.
Lena couldn't understand why a couple boys were laughing at her as they boarded the train, so she shrugged and ignored them. Liam Looked at his sister again and held in a laugh as he followed her up the steps and into the Hogwarts Express.

Avian pulled her trunk a few inches closer to the door and returned to her perch on its top. Then she got up and pulled Snickers, her owl, next to the trunk. Before retaking her seat she rechecked the contents of her backpack. Her neatly folded robe, a copy of 'Hogwarts, A History' to read on the ride, a decent assortment of wizard money, and a few candy bars filled the pack. She polished the toes of her shoes against the back of her socks for the fifth time. Would it never be time to leave for the station? Dudley pulled into the parking space and looked around the bustling lot. He was looking for cages carrying owls, and rats and cats and who knew what else but not a one did he see. They were early because Avian had been nagging him all morning to please hurry. He did know to go past Platform 9 but then he wasn't sure what to do. Perhaps they would run into Harry Potter and his family. Yes, Harry would know what to do. Avian happily skipped her way down between the platforms until they passed #9. And there was what Dudley had been looking for all the while they were walking. A cage holding a brown owl was sitting beside a cart holding several trunks. Just then the redheaded man turned to face him and Dudley was shocked to see the deep scars on the side of his face. But he smiled and the scars seemed to fade away. He shook Dudley's hand as he explained going into the brick wall facing them. "Sorry sir, but Muggles have to say their good-byes here. I would have one of my children go with her but they couldn't wait. I will make sure she gets on the train safely." Dudley looked at Avian and he did not see the child of eleven. Instead he saw a child of one year, eager to take her first step. Her first step that this day would lead her away from him. And this child had the same lopsided smile and dancing green eyes and before he could stop himself he lifted her into to the air high over his head and smiled up into her face as he had so many times that year she was one. "Daddy! You are showing half of London my underpants! Put me down this instant!" But she was laughing and already reaching out for a hug. And with a quick kiss blown over her shoulder she followed the man with the scars into the wall and she was gone.
Avian let out a deep breath and sat down on her trunk. "Are you OK? I know the first time gives you a weird feeling but in no time you won't even think twice." The man with the scarred face was trying to hold back a laugh at the look on the little girl's face. Every time he watched a new student pass through Platform 9 3/4 he remembered his first time. "I will stow your trunk and owl for you and you just get on the train and find a good seat. And best of luck at Hogwarts!" So many people! Avian looked at the groups of families saying their good-byes. Some were almost in tears but most were smiling or laughing. She got on the train and slipped her hand into her pocket withdrawing the paper with a name scribbled by her dad. How would she ever find one boy with messy hair in this crowd? Lord, they all had messy hair. Looking down the aisle she noticed two boys leaning against the wall watching students pass. The blond one looked familiar but the darker one she was sure she had never seen. Diagon Alley! He had smiled at her maybe. She had to ask someone so she walked closer to the two. "Excuse me sir. Would you happen to know where I might find Albus Potter?" Now why had she called him sir? That made her sound like a dummy for sure. What a great impression she was giving today. First almost throwing up after going through the wall and now calling a boy sir. Good grief! The darker boy gave her a glare that made her take a step backward but the blond one smiled and pointed down to the next car. "I think he is in the third compartment." Avian mumbled a thank you and hurried by them. That dark boy gave her the creeps. She counted the compartments as she sidestepped trunks, cages and students. Stopping in front of the third one she looked inside. Yes, that might be him. She opened the door and stepped inside. "Hi! I am Avian Dursley and I am looking for my cousin Albus Potter."

Al had found an empty compartment for himself. He had been one of the first to board the train and had gotten lucky. He knew that he certainly didn't want to sit with his brother. James would be poking him all the way to Hogwarts. Al wanted to meet others who were new like him.
He could see his parents standing on the platform with Lily at their side, and James was with them as well. His mother had walked over to his window and asked if everything was alright. Al had beamed back and had told her that "Everything was great!"
The next person to enter the compartment was a young boy of Al's age. He was a brown skinned boy who wore a blue turban on his head. "Hi. Can I sit here?" the boy asked.
"Yeah sure," Al had replied. He tried to think of something else to say but couldn't think of anything. "Nice... turban," he said in the end as the boy put his trunk away.
"I'm Omar," the boy said, panting a little. "I think my mother packed the whole house into my trunk."
"Wow.. can she do that?" Al asked, surprised.
"Umm... no... you can't really do that, can you? pack a house?" asked Omar with a startled look as he took the seat opposite Al.
"I don't know.. I know it's possible to pack tents that are like houses," said Al.
"Wow... this is certainly going to be interesting. I'm not used to magic," said Omar.
Right then, another head poked in the door. This time it was a boy who had silvery hair. It was done into a pony tail. "Iz it ok to sit here?" he asked.
Both Al and Omar shrugged. There was still a lot of empty space in the compartment. "I'm Will, by ze way," said the boy dragging inside his trunk and a cage with a large red owl inside it.
"I'm Al." "Omar." The two boys responded. Both were staring at his hair, wondering what kind of dye he used.
As Will had just put everything away, someone else came through the door. It was a girl of their age with blond hair. "Hi! I am Avian Dursley and I am looking for my cousin Albus Potter," she said.
"I'm Albus... Al," Al responded. "Oh... you must be Avian. Dad told me about you. You can sit with us if you like," he said, looking at the other two, who nodded back at him and at her.

Avian took the empty seat nearest the window and Al made introductions. Avian was very happy to hear she wasn't the only one new to magic. "What a madhouse! It is exciting and scary all at the same time. I have that feeling in my stomach just like when I ride a roller-coaster." She noticed the look of alarm on Omar's face. "Oh, don't worry. If I didn't throw up coming through that brick wall I am pretty sure it is safe sitting across from me."
She tried not to stare at Al but she was curious about that side of the family. Not everyone found out they had famous relatives that were witches and wizards. Maybe once they got underway she would ask him some questions but for now she was content to sit and watch the flow of students go past the door. There seemed to be so many redheads passing and a couple made faces as they went. They must be friends of Al's she thought.

"You should have just let her find her own way," Diablo said to Scorpius. "Quit being so nice."
"I wasn't being nice," retorted Scorpius. "I just pointed her in a direction that would take her away from us. She's that Muggle Born kid we saw in Diagon Alley. Don't want to be near them now, do we?"
"Mudblood you mean. You gotta learn to use Slytherin terms Scorp. How many times do I have to tell you that?" said Diablo, glaring at a couple of red headed girls who walked by. "Weaselys. The world's full of them!" he spat. "I mean who'd want to be a Weasely, with all that red hair and freckles. Disgusting!"
"So.. are we going to find us a compartment or just hang here for the whole trip?" asked Scorpius.
"We'll just go in and take one over," responded Diablo, with a wicked gleam in his eye.
"We could just sit with the other Slytherins," suggested Scorpius.
"Why? We just find us one full of First Years, and stake our claim. It's going to be more fun," said Diablo.

“94, 95 , 96, 97, 98, 99, 100”. Gemima Tulip, as her mother called her laid her brush down neatly in its compartment and swept her long red hair up into a wide green ribbon draping her long mane over her right shoulder. She gathered up few remaining items and put them into her daypack smiling broadly as she headed for the door.
“Are you ready sweet?” murmured her father.
“Aye daddy, I am.” Gemima let her father hug her and together they went to the kitchen. “Mamm, I’m ready” she called at the same moment that Terina apparated into the yard.
“Right-o then” the woman said with warm brisk efficiency “we’d best be off”. One by one each moved to the quiet hearth with a handful of enchanted powder, each giving a command in a loud clear voice “Platform 9 ¾”.

Just then the door burst open and a frazzled looking boy tumbled inside. "Al! mate I am crashing in here. Crazy mess out there! Barely escaped with my life." He tossed his satchel into the overhead and plopped down in the seat nearest the door. Looking at the new ones he grinned. "Louis Weasley...future Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, House Boy and King of England." At this last they all laughed and introduced themselves. "Don't remember it being this crowded when we dropped my sisters off."
"If we hadn't happened upon this really nice wizard I would still be standing on Platform #9. He helped me in. He had scars on his face poor thing. Looked like a lion got on him. But you know, it made him more handsome somehow."
Louis burst out laughing. "Handsome! That was my dad for sure. And was no lion. Was a werewolf that clawed him. You should see how he eats his meat now. Yeah, it happened at the beginning of the War. The Second one of course. He is a hero."
"A...werewolf? You mean werewolves exist? They are just not made up boogies?" Avian's eyes had gotten extremely wide.
"Oh yeah, they say some live in the Forbidden Forest. Is why students can't go in there you know. Wouldn't look good if a couple of students were eaten." Then he noticed the look of horror on Avian's face. "Oh, don't worry. They don't come on the grounds or anything. And besides me and Al will be around. You know, if you need us to fight off one or something."
Al was bent over laughing at this. "Avian, he is full of it. Pay him no mind. Think the cart will be by soon? I need a snack." Avian nodded and settled back in her seat. Louis just grinned and pulled a bag of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans from his pocket. "Have a sweet Avian?"

Rose stood on the platform, dimly listening to her parents, her Uncle Harry and her Aunt Ginny chatting. She had long ago discovered that the best way to find things out was to look as if she was paying no attention. "Look who it is," her dad said, nodding at a point in the distance. Rose glanced in the direction, while managing to look innocent and like she wasn't looking. Her mother shot her an amused glance, but said nothing. "So that's little Scorpius," her dad muttered under his breath. Rose had to strain to hear him. "Make sure you beat him in every test, Rosie. Thank god you inherited your mother's brains." Rose grinned, anticipating her mother's reaction. "Ron, for heaven's sake," said her mum, looking half stern and half amused. Amused was winning out. "Don't try to turn them against each other before they've even started school!" "You're right, sorry," said her dad. "Don't get too friendly with them, though, Rosie. Granddad Weasley would never forgive you if you married a pureblood." Rose rolled her eyes. That was such a typical thing for her dad to say. She hadn't even spoken to this Scorpius boy and her father was warning her off marriage. Sigh. There was no way that he was going to survive her teenage years. At that point James showed up, obsessing about Teddy and Vicky. He seemed continually surprised that they were together. He was the only one. Everyone else had cottoned on to this a long time ago. And then, suddenly, her mum and dad were hugging her, as were her Aunt Ginny and Uncle Harry, and she was being pushed, albeit gently, onto the train. Al and James had long since disappeared onto the train, and she was left on her own, struggling with her trunk. At least Lucy was coming this year, too. When she thought about it, she was extremely thankful that Lucy was her age. Her family had tons of children, and yet most of them seemed to be boys.
Two train cars later, she'd found an empty compartment. Finally, after some effort, she stowed her trunk, sighing with relief once it was up. She spread her things, mostly books, over two seats, saving one just in case Lucy found her. Then she buried her head in "Hogwarts, a History" and was lost to the world.
